About the Role

We are delighted to work with a well respected hospital based in the Lancashire area, which is looking to recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow Tier 2 level Neonates. 
 
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in the neonatal intensive care specialty. This post offers the opportunity for successful candidates to develop and learn a range of skills in a tertiary neonatal intensive care unit including High Frequency Oscillation, inhaled Nitric Oxide, and Therapeutic Hypothermia. The new state of the art Unit is in the purpose-built Women and Children’s Building. The successful candidate will be part of the clinical team and will take part in the Tier Two, second on-call rota.

Person Specification

Essential

 
•    Full registration with the GMC and with a Licence to Practice
•    Neonatal tertiary experience is necessary
•    Basic medical qualification (MB BS or equivalent)
•    Higher degree MRCPCH or equivalent

Job Summary

Applications are invited for a full-time post in the NICU department at the Hospital. The Senior Clinical Fellow post is ST4-8 equivalent and will be for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

Duties will be in the neonatal department on the Tier 2 rota. There will be a mixture of long day/night shifts [12.5 hours] and shorter day shifts. Duties will be divided between Intensive/High Dependency Care, Special and Transitional Care, and the care of infants in the post-natal wards. Duties will be shared with senior trainees [ST4-8] and senior Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and supervision and education will be provided by Consultants. Although the post is not formally recognised for specialist training by the NW of England Deanery, the incumbent will have an educational supervisor and access to the training opportunities afforded to other doctors in training in the department.

Manchester has very good transport links via car, train or tram.  It also has an international airport with a low cost of living.

We are working with a Large Teaching NHS Hospital based in Yorkshire who are looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Neonates for their department. Job overview The role will include supervision to the Neonatal Unit, postnatal wards and Transitional Care in the Hospital.  You will be expected to contribute to the tertiary neonatal unit advice service to Level 1 and 2 services in the units through the Embrace referral and transport service. As a training hospital as, part of your role will be to provide support to trainees in induction, teaching and training and to act as clinical and educational supervisor. A number of outpatients will be included in the rota which will include clinics by telephone/video and face to face for GP referrals under the age of 1 year and for neonatal patients after discharge. Working with the Neonatal team, service development and national strategies for critical care and for quality improvement. The role will also involve engaging with external agencies eg coroner and social care as required in your capacity as named consultant for the babies. The successful applicant will contribute to departmental duties like organization of junior doctor rotas,  guideline development and other aspects of governance, supervise junior doctor audit and supervision of junior doctor teaching sessions including induction. Consultant Histopathologist

Consultant Histopathologist We are working in partnership with an Acute General Hospital in Devon to appoint a Consultant Histopathologist. The Department is housed in a self-contained unit opposite the outpatient department. It comprises separate histopathology, cytopathology and immunohistology laboratories; secretarial office, 5 consultant offices, 1 senior MLSO office and tea-room. The mortuary is close-by on the ground floor of the main hospital block and has undergone major updating with an increased storage facility, expanding from 50 standard fridges, 16 plus size and 4 freezer spaces to 65 standards, 20 plus size and 9 freezer spaces and a refitted postmortem room with 2 new tables. (New in 2017) All consultants have their own offices with modern microscopes, video capture and VDU display, together with a networked PC. There is a large multiheaded teaching/consultation microscope in the main laboratory. A wide range of immunohistochemically stains are performed using 2 Benchmark Ultra analysers, with a maximum of 180 slides/day (if 3 ‘runs’, however, normally only 2 are required per day). These machines are also capable of performing in situ hybridisation, currently only used routinely for immunoglobulin light chains and EBV. Immunofluorescence is used for skin biopsies on request.
