I am partnered with an Acute NHS trust situated in Devon seeking a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist – Gynaecological and Colorectal tumours.
The Trust is an Integrated Care Organisation providing acute health care. The hospital is a medium-sized, progressive, and innovative District General Hospital providing acute services to Devon with a 10-bedded Critical Care Unit, six general theatres, three orthopaedic theatres, and a day surgery unit. They provide services in most specialties within the local area.
We have around 500,000 face-to-face contacts with patients in their homes and communities each year and see over 78,000 people in our A&E department annually. We serve a resident population of approximately 375,000 people, plus about 100,000 visitors at any one time during the summer holiday season
Main duties of the job
• Take ownership of and deliver their own site-specific workload.
• Contribute to the medical leadership, management, and innovation within Oncology services.
• Offer support and training to all non-consultant grade doctors within the unit.
• Promote inter-disciplinary working in the department and across the hospital.
• To ensure that current standards and evidence-based practice are applied.
• Participate in clinical audit programs, including both departmental and multidisciplinary audits.
• Contribute to research and innovative practice within oncology.

Acute Medicine Consultant
Devon£105,504 to £139,882
We are working with an NHS Trust situated in the South West of the UK who have recently undergone some additional investment to increase their medical workforce within Acute Medicine.
The Trust boast an excellent record in supporting candidates with the Portfolio pathway and have successfully assisted a number of doctors with gaining specialist registration via this route.
In order to support this process the Trust are offering successful candidates 2 year fixed term contracts, this can be extended if more time is required to complete the Portfolio pathway.
The AMU has several distinct functions:
08.00 to 20h00 there is a shop floor AMU consultant continually reviewing patients with junior colleagues.
Patients may remain within the AMU especially when it is expected that they will be discharged within 24 to 48 hours.
There is 14 bedded OPAL unit
There is Specialty Ownership on AMU 7/7
We work closely with our Acute GP colleagues to deliver an integrate Primary and secondary care service Postgrad and Undergraduate teaching is a large part of our roles and we have now been rated as the best trust in the best region for Postgraduate teaching.
Teaching and Training
The post-holder is expected to participate in the teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and other clinical staff groups. The post-holder will also have supervision responsibilities for junior medical staff within the specialty.
Study and Training
The post-holder is expected to participate in professional continuing medical education; study leave is provided for this purpose, and the post-holder will be entitled to apply to the Trust’s Study Leave Committee for a contribution to funding of this activity.
Research
Members of the Division are encouraged to pursue approved topics of research. There are funds available within the hospital for approved studies. The use of commercial funds for ethically approved
The job plan is structured around 10 PAs. 2.5 SPA non-timetabled activity during year one of appointment. After the first-year consultants are entitled to 1.5 SPA and an additional 1.0PA SPA is negotiable for specific activities and interests. DCC 8.5 PAs ward work, admin, and PMS teaching.

Anaesthetics consultant

I am currently working with a Trust based in Nottinghamshire that is looking for a Consultant Anaesthetist is required to support the Anaesthesia Department at a prestigious NHS Trust. The role comprises of 10 PA's, with 8.5 PA dedicated to direct clinical care and 1.5 PA for supporting professional activities. This is a NHS fixed term contract, The appointed Consultant will be required to be on-call and live within a reasonable distance of the Trust to attend within thirty minutes when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality clinical care for a wide variety of surgical, gynaecological, orthopaedic, and obstetric cases.
Work alongside fellow consultants, critical care teams, theatre staff, divisional managers, and nursing colleagues to maintain the highest standards of care.
Deliver teaching and training to junior staff, medical students, and multidisciplinary team members.
Contribute to clinical governance, service development, and departmental management.
Ensure active participation in continuing medical education (CME) and stay updated with advancements in anaesthesia practice.
Provide consultant anaesthetic cover for elective theatre sessions at the Trust’s main hospital and at the Newark hospital.
Department Overview:
The successful candidates will be welcomed into a supportive, well-established anaesthesia department, consisting of 25 substantive consultants and up to 20 Specialist/SAS/Clinical Fellow grade anaesthetists. The department works closely with the East Midlands School of Anaesthesia and actively participates in the education of medical trainees. The Trust is also working towards achieving national accreditation with The Royal College of Anaesthetists, with the goal of completing this process within the next two years.
Key Specialities and Services:
Elective Surgery: The Trust offers a full range of elective surgeries, including general surgery, orthopaedics, trauma, gynaecology, urology, ENT, maxillofacial, breast surgery, and ophthalmology.
Obstetric Anaesthesia: The Trust's obstetric unit handles around 3,600 deliveries per year. The anaesthesia team plays a key role in providing consultant-led care for the unit, including high-risk antenatal anaesthetic assessments.
Critical Care: The Critical Care Unit is well-equipped with 13 bed spaces, providing Level 3 and Level 2 care. The unit is currently expanding as part of an ambitious redevelopment project.
Acute and Chronic Pain Services: The department offers an excellent pain management service, including pre-operative assessments, acute pain rounds, and chronic pain management.
On-Call and Emergency Services:
Consultants participate in a well-structured on-call rota, including coverage for theatres, obstetrics, critical care, and paediatric resuscitation. The department is equipped with a robust team of anaesthetists and other medical professionals to provide comprehensive support across all emergency and elective services.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
Extensive experience in anaesthetics, including general anaesthesia and obstetric anaesthesia.
Training in critical care and pain management is desirable.
