Our service delivers specialist care across 14 partner hospitals in the Wessex region. Outreach patients account for around 50% of the clinical workload. We are one of only a few UK paediatric rheumatology centres using musculoskeletal (MSK) point-of-care ultrasound in routine practice. We are working in partnership with a leading Teaching NHS Foundation Trust in Hampshire to recruit a Consultant PICU on a substantive or fixed term basis. The PICU department is a 16 bedded intensive care unit delivering a comprehensive service for all sub-specialties for the geographical area covering the Wessex Region. In addition, a General Paediatric Service is provided  to the District and congenital cardiac surgical services are delivered to the Thames Valley area. The regional PIC retrieval service is delivered from the trust in collaboration with Oxford University Hospital. In 2022/23 there were 900 admissions to hopsital with 350 level 3 retrievals and 250 transport episodes. All types of cardiac interventional procedures are carried out, with approximately 350 cardiac operations performed each year. The PICU department has consistently one of the lowest SMRs and highest throughputs per bed of any PICU in the UK. We are a regional ECMO centre offer VV and VA ECMO for respiratory and cardiac support. Job responsibilities Clinical Duties: All clinical sessions will be in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The case mix of admissions reflects a mixed general PICU. Support is provided for all the paediatric subspecialty services including paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery, paediatric neurology and neurosurgery, paediatric nephrology, haematology/oncology, respiratory, gastroenterology, infectious diseases/immunology, endocrinology, paediatric surgery, general paediatrics and trauma. The Intensive Care consultants manage patients in collaboration with the various multi-disciplinary teams involved with the patients. It is essential for you to have significant experience in paediatric cardiac intensive care, renal replacement therapies and techniques of advanced ventilatory support including the use of inhaled nitric oxide, high frequency oscillation and extracorporeal life support. Ideally you would have spent time in a commissioned ECMO unit. It is also necessary for you to have significant experience in management of severe traumatic head injuries and management of complex patients with multiple organ failure and transport medicine. I am recruiting for a Consultant radiologist with an interest in MSK for a permanent or fixed term contract. The successful applicant will share responsibility with 3 other colleagues for the provision of all aspects of MSK imaging and intervention in our Trust. A fellowship in MSK radiology would be desirable. The MSK imaging service supports a busy acute and planned Orthopaedic Dept (24 Consultants, 26 Middle grade and 7 Fellows) and houses one of the largest arthroplasty service in Europe and is the local Trauma Unit. Post-holders will be expected to provide general and specialist MSK imaging services across all modalities (Nuclear Medicine is run separately). Participation in a general CT session supports the skills for on call. There will be opportunities to expand into/develop other MSK areas. Job planned commitments would also include an US list and fluoro/US/CT guided MSK procedures. The plain film reporting is equally distributed amongst radiologists and reporting radiographers. Support to Orthopaedic, Trauma, Rheumatology, Spinal, Sarcoma MDTs is shared between the MSK Radiologist. The area has several theatres and concert halls, among them. There are also numerous restaurants, pubs, night-clubs and cinemas in the area as well as facilities for many outdoor activities such as golf, tennis, all water sports and a large many trail for riding, cycling or walking in the areas of the New Forest and Purbecks - a wide variety of other sporting activities. There is Premiership football team on your doorstep. Adjacent to the hospital complex are 2 leisure/fitness centers both with indoor swimming pool, gym/fitness room, squash courts etc. The city has its own rapidly expanding university with huge infrastructure investment occurring in relation to this. The is an Institute of Medical Visualisation aimed at performing medical research housing a 3T MRI scanner. College have sites at both ends of the conurbation and there are many excellent state and independent sector schools in the area. The travel time by rail to London (Waterloo) is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes and by road approximately two hours. I am partnered with a district General hospital in the south of the UK seeking to appoint a general radiologist with an interest in Neuro Radiology for a 12 month fixed term contract (with view to extend). You will join a team of 23 substantive consultants. Applicants should demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in General Radiology. Development of subspecialty areas of interest in addition to core skills is encouraged and the successful candidate is expected to participate in the development of Radiology services. The Radiology Departments are actively involved in teaching with four radiology trainees on rotation from the deanery. Audit and other continuing professional developmental activities are positively encouraged. First line on call is provided by SpR or staff grade radiologists until 10pm weekdays and 5pm weekends with on call outsourced to a reporting company overnight. Our General Radiology consultant team is responsible for checking scans the following day to ensure quality assurance and education on a 1 in 8 rota. Daytime cover is also provided for a Malignant cord compression MRI at weekends on the same 1 in 8 rota. This is a great place to work and live, there are easy road and rail links to London (just over an hour away). The south east coast is also very close by boasting some of Britains best beaches. We are recruiting for an experienced Geriatric Consultant to join a General hospital on the beautiful UK coastline on a fixed term or substantive basis. The trust provide daily geriatrician led ward rounds on the medical admissions unit, frailty SDEC services, a 38 bed inpatient frailty unit, an acute stroke unit and associated rehabilitation and outpatient stroke services, orthogeriatric and general surgical liaison services, Parkinson's disease service. The successful applicant will participate in the delivery and development of services for older people within the hospital, Your timetable will be tailored to individual skills and subspeciality expertise, but likely to focus on working with existing colleagues in front door frailty.
