About the Role
I am recruiting for multiple positions to join this excellent District General Hospital in Yorkshire on a substantive contract. Yorkshire has recently been voted as the third best region in the world by Lonely Planet, and our local town has been voted as the best place to live in the UK by the Sunday Times, commending its top-class schools, great transport links, low crime and beautiful surrounding countryside.
Essential criteria:
Either Specialist registration or have submitted CESR.
Unfortunately this hospital cannot support international applicants at this time nor they can they help candidates with CESR or offer training.
Special interests required:
Neuro – diagnostic
Breast – symptomatic only, with another special interest and/or general. (would accept PT applications, such as 2 days a week purely breast work)
Chest – must be able to do CT guided lung biopsies
MSK – must be able to do U/S joint injections & fluoroscopy studies.
GI – diagnostic, although having NVI experience could be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to join a good team of 13 Consultant Radiologists with excellent relationships with their medical and surgical teams.
We have successfully implemented a Tele-Radiology on-call service for CT scans from 1900 hours till 0800 hours Monday to Friday and from 1730 hours till 0800 hours on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Our Services
Our main Radiology Department consists of Plain Film/X-Ray (including Fluoroscopy), CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Mammography. We also provide DEXA in our Day Hospital for the Elderly. Community clinics are provided for improved access to patients in the local area.
Community Diagnostic Centres
A new Community Diagnostic Centre that is providing additional capacity for imaging services, including: Plain Film X-Ray, Ultrasound (with and without contrast), CT (with and without contrast) and MRI (with and without contrast).
New Hospital Build
In May 2023, it was announced that our General Hospital has secured a place on the New Hospital Programme. This is an exciting opportunity for the Trust to work with hospital planning experts to configure and co-locate services to not only reflect the current needs of our population, but also looking to future needs and reflecting potential future developments in clinical care and technology. It is predicted the new hospital build will be ready by 2030.
We are part of the Yorkshire Imaging collaborative which is an ambitious project to align imaging services across the region. This will involve sharing imaging protocols and eventually workflow and reporting across the whole of Yorkshire.

GI Radiologist
Lancashire
£105-000-£145,000
I am recruiting a GI Radiologist to work in a District General Hospital in Lancashire. (Very close to the city of Manchester).
The Hospital has a reputation for being an excellent District General Hospital with many strong clinical teams supported by a committed Radiology Department. Many clinical specialties have undergone significant expansion over recent years and the successful candidate will be expected to support the service in their area of subspecialist interest in addition to providing general radiological services after discussion and agreement with the clinical directors.
The hospital is very much a broad district general facility with an appropriate workload. There is an increasing need for sub-specialisation within the department and most Directorates are supported by teams of two or three Radiologists. There may be flexibility within the department to develop further subspecialisation according to the changing needs of the service and the interests of the candidate. We will be happy to discuss these issues in more detail with any prospective candidate.
There is a large general commitment to the department and the candidate would be expected to contribute to this. There is however an extensive skill mix programme as outlined elsewhere to address some of these issues. We are looking for an experienced GI Radiologist to develop local services in line with current strategic priorities.
The final job plan will be agreed following discussions between the successful candidate, the Clinical Director and the Chief Executive and will depend on the subspecialty interest of the candidate. Consultants are required to work flexibly to undertake their duties. There may be a need to work during the evenings and weekends to ensure effective delivery of service and its sustainability. Any alterations will be discussed with the Clinical Director and agreed beforehand with all relevant Consultants.
