Consultant Anaesthetist – Sussex
I am pleased to be working with a Trust based in Sussex that is currently looking to recruit a Consultant Anaesthetist to join its large and well-established department.
The department provides services across all major surgical specialties, offering the opportunity to undertake a diverse and rewarding clinical workload. Subspecialty areas include:

The Trust is seeking anaesthetists who can initially contribute to weekend general, obstetric, and neuro work. Over time, there will be opportunities to join specialist on-call rotas, subject to mutual agreement with the Care Group Lead and the needs of the Trust.
Job Responsibilities
The role will involve supporting a wide range of surgical services including:
Major general surgery
Vascular surgery
Ophthalmic surgery
Endoscopy
Neurosurgery and neuro-radiology
Spinal surgery
Orthopaedic surgery
Major Trauma Centre work
The Trust also provides services across dedicated elective sites covering multiple surgical specialties.
Initially, non-weekday working will involve weekend elective and non-elective session cover. In the longer term, appointees may have the option to transition to a specialist out-of-hours on-call rota, although this is not mandatory.
The job plan will typically include approximately five full-day lists per fortnight, with one expected to be a long list including an evening session. There may also be opportunities to run pre-assessment clinics, either generic or aligned with the individual's subspecialty interests.

Consultant Radiologist

I am recruiting for multiple positions to join this excellent District General Hospital in Yorkshire on a substantive contract. Yorkshire has recently been voted as the third best region in the world by Lonely Planet, and our local town has been voted as the best place to live in the UK by the Sunday Times, commending its top-class schools, great transport links, low crime and beautiful surrounding countryside.
Essential criteria:
Either Specialist registration or have submitted CESR.
Unfortunately this hospital cannot support international applicants at this time nor they can they help candidates with CESR or offer training.
Special interests required:
Neuro – diagnostic
Breast – symptomatic only, with another special interest and/or general. (would accept PT applications, such as 2 days a week purely breast work)
Chest – must be able to do CT guided lung biopsies
MSK – must be able to do U/S joint injections & fluoroscopy studies.
GI – diagnostic, although having NVI experience could be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to join a good team of 13 Consultant Radiologists with excellent relationships with their medical and surgical teams.
We have successfully implemented a Tele-Radiology on-call service for CT scans from 1900 hours till 0800 hours Monday to Friday and from 1730 hours till 0800 hours on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Our Services
Our main Radiology Department consists of Plain Film/X-Ray (including Fluoroscopy), CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Mammography. We also provide DEXA in our Day Hospital for the Elderly. Community clinics are provided for improved access to patients in the local area.
Community Diagnostic Centres
A new Community Diagnostic Centre that is providing additional capacity for imaging services, including: Plain Film X-Ray, Ultrasound (with and without contrast), CT (with and without contrast) and MRI (with and without contrast).
New Hospital Build
In May 2023, it was announced that our General Hospital has secured a place on the New Hospital Programme. This is an exciting opportunity for the Trust to work with hospital planning experts to configure and co-locate services to not only reflect the current needs of our population, but also looking to future needs and reflecting potential future developments in clinical care and technology. It is predicted the new hospital build will be ready by 2030.
We are part of the Yorkshire Imaging collaborative which is an ambitious project to align imaging services across the region. This will involve sharing imaging protocols and eventually workflow and reporting across the whole of Yorkshire.

Job overview
The trust is seeking an enthusiastic and self motivated Consultant to join our department as a Substantive Consultant in Intensive Care, commencing in April 2026. The successful candidate will be integrated into our established 1:8 ICU on call rota and will provide high quality Direct Clinical Care within the Intensive Care Unit. During non ICU weeks, the post holder will deliver daytime DCC in a complementary speciality, preferably Anaesthetics within the Operating Theatres, supporting service needs and ensuring continuity of care across the department.
The trust offers organ support, including respiratory, renal and cardiovascular systems using state of the art Philips, LidCo and PICCO monitoring. Up to ten patients may be haemofiltered. We admit between 700 to 750 patients/year: 70% are medical and 30% surgical. The surgical patients consist mainly of patients admitted after major emergency colorectal or trauma/orthopaedic procedures. High level care is also provided throughout the hospital by our 24 hour nurse-run, consultant-supported Critical Care Outreach Team.
Regular audit data is collected on the MediCUS, and we participate in ICNARC. The trust uses CERNER EPR system.
The intensive care consultant rota is 1:8.
The consultant is supported by a team of junior doctors. There is an 1:8 registrar/speciality doctors rota and an 1:8 SHO/clinical fellows rota.
The unit is recognised for training in intensive care medicine by the Intercollegiate Board.
There is regular ICU teaching every Friday, MM meetings every 2 months, Speciality Mortality Review meetings every 2 week.
