About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Yorkshire for a new Consultant Cardiologist to join an existing team of nine Consultant Cardiologists working in this successful Teaching Hospital. This is a post for a consultant cardiologist with an interest in complex devices; this will include sessions to carry out implantation and follow up of complex devices. This may include sessions in the catheter lab at our neighbouring hospital.

You will be expected to contribute to the delivery of a seven day a week service however this can be delivered flexibly to maintain work life balance or support a specialist interest at a tertiary centre.

CARDIOLOGY AND CARDIOTHORACIC SURGERY SERVICES

Providing tertiary Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery Services for a population of approximately 1.8 million people as well as Secondary Care Cardiology Services. Cardiology, Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery services have been housed within the purpose-built Hospital since April 1997.  The facilities include 5 cardiac catheter labs with a 6-bay Day Case Trolley Area, 5 dedicated surgical operating theatres, a 12 bedded Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and an 8-bedded Coronary Care Unit.

The Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Service

The Arrhythmia Service consists of 7 Consultant Cardiologists including two specialist device implanters. Services include implantation of complex devices, conduction-system pacing, leadless pacemakers, subcutaneous ICD implantation and extraction, with high risk extractions undertaken as hybrid procedures jointly with cardiothoracic surgical colleagues.

There is also a post-CCT Clinical fellow, a team of Arrhythmia Nurse Specialists including an Arrhythmia Care Coordinator (4 posts) and dedicated administrative support with a single point of access.

I am working with an NHS trust based in the North West of England seeking to appoint an interventional Consultant on an NHS fixed term or substantive contract. The department has a proactive strategy to ensure the highest standard of patient care is maintained. This is supported by well-structured and comprehensive governance processes. In 2019, the department achieved accreditation to the Quality Standard for imaging (QSI) (Imaging Services Accreditation Scheme) by the RCR and CoR, the first imaging department to receive the award in the region. They are also one of the only acute trusts to receive a CQC of outstanding. The hospital is very close to the cities of Liverpool and Manchester. They are also not far from the peak and lake districts so it is an interesting mix of urban and rural life. Lots of excellent schools in the area, major international airports, a variety of sports facilities, large shopping centres, theatres & arts etc. It has everything you could want. Geriatric Consultant

I am partnered with an NHS trust based in the South, seeking to appoint a Geriatric consultant with an interest in Acute Geriatrics on an NHS fixed term or permanent contract. The department are undergoing expansion with a complete emergency floor redesign and rebuild. We are a 350 bed District General Hospital with a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services. The successful applicant will participate in the delivery and development of services for older people in our hospital. Their timetable will be tailored to individual skills and subspeciality expertise, but likely to focus on working with existing colleagues in front door frailty. We provide daily geriatrician led ward rounds on the medical admissions unit, frailty SDEC services, a 38 bed inpatient frailty unit, an acute stroke unit and associated rehabilitation and outpatient stroke services, orthogeriatric and general surgical liaison services, Parkinson's disease service. We have developed a fully integrated acute frailty unit in the acute medical unit which provides daily weekday geriatrician ward rounds and MDT review. A Frailty SDEC service provides rapid access appointments, medical falls reviews and direct reviews of suitable ED patients. Geriatricians also provide ward rounds in community hospitals and input to locality virtual wards, alongside providing an advice line to local GPs, community frailty teams and paramedics. We have close links with colleagues working in our local community hospitals with some colleagues working across the two areas providing some sessions for inpatient care in these hospitals. Our multidisciplinary department is working together towards becoming a Centre of Excellence for the Care of Older People. The post holder would be expected to contribute to the all-age medical take, with frequency 1 in 12 weekdays and 1 in 8 weekends. The county with its outstanding scenery and rugged coastline covers a large geographical area, characterised by several small towns, each with a distinct identity. The coastline is protected by World Heritage as a site of outstanding natural beauty. We attract a lot of tourism as a prime holiday centre with the population doubling in the summer months since both the coastline and the countryside offer a wide range of interests for people to pursue. There are excellent water sport facilities and was the venue for the Olympics Water sports. Cultural, sporting and social events are hosted in the county all year round and there are transport links to London, Bristol and Europe. The county has very good state schools at all levels, and there are several private schools.  

GI Radiologist

I am recruiting a GI Radiologist to work in a District General Hospital in Lancashire. (Very close to the city of Manchester). The  Hospital has a reputation for being an excellent District General Hospital with many strong clinical teams supported by a committed Radiology Department. Many clinical specialties have undergone significant expansion over recent years and the successful candidate will be expected to support the service in their area of subspecialist interest in addition to providing general radiological services after discussion and agreement with the clinical directors. The hospital is very much a broad district general facility with an appropriate workload. There is an increasing need for sub-specialisation within the department and most Directorates are supported by teams of two or three Radiologists. There may be flexibility within the department to develop further subspecialisation according to the changing needs of the service and the interests of the candidate. We will be happy to discuss these issues in more detail with any prospective candidate. There is a large general commitment to the department and the candidate would be expected to contribute to this. There is however an extensive skill mix programme as outlined elsewhere to address some of these issues. We are looking for an experienced GI Radiologist to develop local services in line with current strategic priorities. The final job plan will be agreed following discussions between the successful candidate, the Clinical Director and the Chief Executive and will depend on the subspecialty interest of the candidate. Consultants are required to work flexibly to undertake their duties. There may be a need to work during the evenings and weekends to ensure effective delivery of service and its sustainability. Any alterations will be discussed with the Clinical Director and agreed beforehand with all relevant Consultants. Total PA’s: - 10.6 On Call Currently 1:15 rota Weekends can be split into Friday and Sunday one week and Saturday the following week. Availability category A. On-call work is outsourced after 8 pm Monday to Friday. A six hour on site shift is worked 9 am till 3 pm on weekends and bank holidays with outsourcing after 3pm. During outsourcing periods the on-call consultant remains available in-case of IT failure, major incident or urgent ultrasound. Consultant Neuro Radiologist

I am partnered with a district General hospital in the south of the UK seeking to appoint a Neuro Radiologist for a 12 month fixed term contract (with view to extend). You will join a team of 23 substantive consultants. Applicants should demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Neuro Radiology.  The Radiology Departments are actively involved in teaching with four radiology trainees on rotation from the deanery. Audit and other continuing professional developmental activities are positively encouraged. First line on call is provided by SpR or staff grade radiologists until 10pm weekdays and 5pm weekends with on call outsourced to a reporting company overnight. Our General Radiology consultant team is responsible for checking scans the following day to ensure quality assurance and education on a 1 in 8 rota. Daytime cover is also provided for a Malignant cord compression MRI at weekends on the same 1 in 8 rota. This is a great place to work and live, there are easy road and rail links to London (just over an hour away). The south east coast is also very close by boasting some of Britains best beaches.
