About the Role

We are delighted to be partnered with a large NHS University Foundation Trust based in the East Midlands who are looking to recruit 3 x fixed term Locum Consultants within Elderly Medicine.

The Elderly Medicine Division across both sites is made up of 19 Consultants and 6 Acute Inpatient Geriatric wards.

The Department has recently expanded into the community providing support to General Practice surgeries and selected care homes as part of a pilot into future community models.

The department is active in teaching both medical students and at postgraduate level. There is also a developing research program, alongside regular audits and a developing set of KPI’s. The team are enthusiastic educators and enjoy supervising junior colleagues in helping them to achieve their goals, guiding them successfully through their specialist training.

The division are looking for a candidate who can build on the success of current services and help develop them further in the future as they strive to make care for the frail older patients better than ever.

The Proposed Job plan will consist of 8.5 PA's DCC and 1.5 SPA on average and will include General Medicine on calls.

Acute Medicine Consultant

Kaizen Recruitment are delighted to be partnered with a University Hospital based in the South West of the UK who are looking to significantly expand their Acute Medicine Division. The Acute Medicine department has made significant developments in the delivery of care by a strong dynamic group of consultants and nursing staff. The division continue to see approximately 20,000 patients a year within the 51-bedded Acute Medical Unit (AMU), in addition to a weekday turnover of around 30-55 patients in their dedicated Acute Assessment Unit (AAU). Currently the team consists of 12 Consultants in Acute Medicine and 37 Consultant Physicians supporting the on-call rota. Consultants in Acute Medicine do 1:12 weekend on-call. There are a further 3 Consultant Physicians who have a part time commitment to the acute medicine roster. The role is a 10 PA post with the opportunity of 2 additional PA's for development within a specialist interest. Suitable candidates must meet the below criteria: GMC Registration MRCP or MRCPi in full Experience working within Acute Medicine Experience leading departments Situated in the picturesque South West coast of the UK living in this area offers the opportunity to explore some of the best UK coastal walks and beaches. Acute Medicine Consultant

The Trust are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are looking to progress their careers, as such they are happy to offer opportunities to those who have prior NHS experience at middle grade level and looking to make the step up, with this they would be prepared to support the CESR/ Portfolio pathway. An attractive part to these roles would be the offer of 2 Direct Clinical Care sessions in a Specialist interest of your choice, this would be discussed at offer stage and agreed prior to joining. At present the provisional job plan consists of 8 DCC and 2 SPA, if a leadership role is offered a further 1 DCC will be converted to an SPA session for additional duties.
