About the Department
The Department of Anaesthesia supports a wide range of clinical services, including:

- Obstetrics and Gynaecology (including a dedicated obstetric theatre)

The department works closely with surgical and medical colleagues to ensure the highest standard of perioperative care
Facilities and Services
- Main Theatre Unit: 10 modern operating theatres with dedicated adult and paediatric recovery areas
- Obstetric/Gynaecology Wing: 2 gynaecology theatres and 1 obstetric theatre located within the Delivery Suite
- Adult Critical Care Unit: 16-bedded unit led by a separate ICM consultant rota
- Intensive Care Unit: Conveniently located adjacent to the Main Theatre Unit
Workforce Composition
- 30 Consultant Anaesthetists (including ICU consultants)
- 2 Permanent Staff Grades
- 11 Specialty Doctors
- 8 Specialty Trainees and 5 Core Trainees from the East Midlands School of Anaesthesia
- 4 F1 and 1 F2 Foundation Year Doctors
Essential Requirements
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
- Relevant UK Anaesthetic experience
- Broad-based clinical experience, skills, and training in anaesthesia across a range of specialties

Achieved registered Medical Degree
Evidence of 4 years (FTE) postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent training) of which at least 2 year's training must be in relevant specialty or a recognised equivalent training
Job responsibilities
This post holder essentially covers Acute Paediatric unit and Neonatal unit at a Middle grade level. The post holder is responsible for the following
Managing children admitted to the Paediatric ward under supervision of a Consultant.
Supervising and supporting Tier 1 doctors and Nurse practitioners in patient care in childrens ward and assessment unit .
Managing babies on the Neonatal unit under supervision of consultant
Supervision and supporting Tier 1 doctors and Nurse practitioners in patient care for babies on the neonatal unit and maternity unit.
Attending high risk deliveries on the maternity unit
Seeing patients referred to the Paediatric Assessment unit and
Providing support and advice to A & E doctors, General Practitioners
Attending and seeing patients in outpatient clinic independently under supervision of a consultant
Participate in the on call rota with other middle grades

New Opportunity: Specialty Doctor in Oncology – Essex
I’m delighted to announce that I’m working with a Trust in Essex currently looking to recruit a Specialty Doctor in Oncology.
Person Specification
• Minimum of 4 years’ full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent if part-time), with at least 2 years in a recognised specialty training programme in Oncology, or equivalent experience and competencies
• Eligible for full GMC registration at the time of appointment
• Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards (Good Medical Practice)
The Role
This position offers excellent experience for career development within Oncology. You’ll have opportunities for outpatient work and will provide oncological support to patients at Mid Essex Hospital, working closely with Consultants, junior doctors, and the palliative care nursing team.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and support oncology patients, including those receiving outpatient chemotherapy
• Participate in and attend relevant MDT/MDM meetings
• Provide cross-cover for colleagues and support the Acute Oncology Service
• Assist in consultant-led outpatient clinics and cover the chemotherapy unit
• Maintain high-quality clinical records and participate in clinical audit
• Engage in continuing medical education and administrative duties related to patient care

Locum Consultant Neonates
South Yorkshire

We are working with a Large Teaching NHS Hospital based in Yorkshire who are looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Neonates for their department.
Job overview
The role will include supervision to the Neonatal Unit, postnatal wards and Transitional Care in the Hospital. You will be expected to contribute to the tertiary neonatal unit advice service to Level 1 and 2 services in the units through the Embrace referral and transport service.
As a training hospital as, part of your role will be to provide support to trainees in induction, teaching and training and to act as clinical and educational supervisor.
A number of outpatients will be included in the rota which will include clinics by telephone/video and face to face for GP referrals under the age of 1 year and for neonatal patients after discharge.
Working with the Neonatal team, service development and national strategies for critical care and for quality improvement.
The role will also involve engaging with external agencies eg coroner and social care as required in your capacity as named consultant for the babies.
The successful applicant will contribute to departmental duties like organization of junior doctor rotas, guideline development and other aspects of governance, supervise junior doctor audit and supervision of junior doctor teaching sessions including induction.
