About the Role
Im currently working with a leading NHS Trust, is seeking a highly skilled Stroke Service Consultant to join their dynamic stroke team on a NHS fixed term contact. This is a unique opportunity to work within an integrated stroke service across the South and Central Nottinghamshire region, in collaboration with the University Trust. The Stroke Service admits approximately 600 patients with confirmed strokes each year and offers an out-of-hours thrombolysis service in partnership with the University Trust.

- Provide expert clinical care to patients in the Stroke Unit, covering acute, rehabilitation, and hyperacute care.
- Ensure delivery of thrombolysis treatment 24/7 and participate in the acute stroke on-call rota.
- Participate in the Stroke Unit weekend cover alongside colleagues.
- Offer support for the acute medical on-call, depending on your skills and experience.
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including specialist nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists to provide holistic care.
- Play an active role in stroke research, working alongside the full-time stroke research nurse to recruit patients for various studies.
- Contribute to the development of the service, helping to implement strategies in line with Trust and National guidelines.
- Hyperacute and Acute Stroke Care: Provide direct clinical input to patients admitted to the Stroke Unit, including thrombolysis and thrombectomy procedures.
- TIA/Neurovascular Clinic: Work with the stroke unit to manage TIA patients and collaborate with the University Trust TIA Clinic at weekends.
- Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS): Support the community rehabilitation team, ensuring patients discharged from the unit receive optimal rehabilitation.
- Provide safe, effective, and efficient clinical care to patients.
- Oversee administrative tasks related to patient care, service delivery, and performance management.
- Contribute to service development, strategy, and planning in collaboration with the Service Director and management team.
- Ensure clinical duties are performed to the highest possible standard in line with Trust quality initiatives.
- Offer cover for colleagues' annual leave and absence as needed.
- Actively participate in safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults in line with Trust guidelines.
- Adhere to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy, Health and Safety policies, and infection control practices.
- Full GMC registration and the ability to work as a consultant within an NHS Trust setting.
- Previous experience in stroke services, with a strong background in acute stroke management.
- Experience in stroke research and multi-disciplinary team collaboration is beneficial.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and the ability to work across multiple clinical settings.
