About the Role

I am working with a district general hospital who are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic colleague to join the Respiratory & Acute Medicine teams as a Specialty Doctor. The role provides a path to develop skills & competencies towards a CESR, with potential to join the Respiratory Consultant team in the future.  The hospital is located in Hertfordshire.

Duties
1. Inpatients – Care of Respiratory Unit patients and providing advice to inpatients in other areas with support of the Respiratory ward consultant, and alongside Respiratory specialty trainees. 1:4 weekend support on the Respiratory Ward.
2. Outpatients – The successful candidate will deliver general respiratory and have the opportunity to develop sub-specialist interest with the support of consultants. Particular support will be given to developing expertise in a variety of subspecialties to meet CESR requirements. Templates for clinics 3 new and 4 follow up patients.
3. The successful candidate will be supported to develop procedural skills in pleural procedures, including medical Thoracoscopy and bronchoscopy.
4. Maintaining a portfolio and logbook of procedures. The applicant will be supported towards achieving accreditation in thoracic ultrasound.
5. Attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings and attend tertiary centre specialist sub-specialty training to meet Respiratory curriculum requirements.

The Trust’s Cellular Pathology service is undergoing an exciting period of development, with the ambition to become a leader in the field of Cellular Pathology management. The Role The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the delivery and future development of histopathology and cytopathology services at the Trust. The post also offers the opportunity to take the lead in one or more subspecialty disciplines, with current needs in: Gynaecology (screening & non-screening workload and MDT) Non-gynaecological cytology Gastrointestinal pathology Upper GI MDT Key Responsibilities Participate in the general diagnostic surgical pathology rota or contribute specialist expertise to complement the existing consultant team. The successful candidate will be part of the Tier 2 on-call rota (1 in 11), covering General Paediatrics, Neonates, and the Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU). Consultant in Histopathology

I am partnered with a district University Hospital in the south of the UK seeking to appoint a Consultant in Histopathology for a 12 month, fixed term contract (with view to extend). with an interest in pulmonary pathology and one or more of, gynaecological, GI/HPB, and skin pathology. The details of the job plan will be subject to discussion with the clinical leads. An expected 10 PAs will typically be split 8DCC to 2SPA with no on call commitment.  The direct clinical care activities principally include microscopic reporting, macroscopic specimen dissection (increasingly, supervision of scientist led dissection), multidisciplinary team meetings, frozen section cover, reporting with trainees and rapid on-site assessment in cytology clinics.  Slides are allocated using a web based workload management system (SAINTS), developed in-house and based on the RCPath points system to an annualised job plan. The other DCC duties are carried out by rota agreed with the reporting pathologists within each subspecialist team. You will be joining an established team of two consultant pulmonary pathologists. You will also be contributing to at least one other subspecialty, with some flexibility.  There are opportunities to be involved in one or more of gynaecology pathology, breast pathology, skin pathology, GI and HPB pathology.  You will be working within a wider cellular pathology team comprising 23 adult Histopathologist covering all subspecialties aside from medical renal biopsies and cardiovascular pathology, four paediatric pathologists and two neuropathology colleagues.
