About the Role

I am delighted to announce that a vacancy for a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine has become available at a district general hospital based within the Lincolnshire area.

The hospital is in is a large and modern complex, catering for the majority of major specialties, and has 557 acute beds. There are 172 beds for acute general medical and elderly care, including coronary care and renal care, as well as a 51-bed medical emergency admission unit and an 18-bed surgical admissions unit. Additionally, there is a 19-bed Frailty Unit. The 10 side-room Respiratory Support Unit (4 negative pressure rooms) opened in summer 2021. A sizable, well-staffed Accident and Emergency Department is available. At the moment, the hospital has 108 general surgical beds, a 20-bed critical care unit (levels 2 and 3), a ten theatre operating suite, and three orthopaedic wards.

The Hospital employs five respiratory physicians on a full-time basis, with an additional three locum physicians supporting. Outpatient Clinics are held at the Hospital. The Respiratory Medicine Service annually sees in excess of 900 non-elective admissions, 300-day cases, and 2000 first outpatient appointments. The Department of Respiratory Medicine is part of the Specialty Medicine Clinical Business Unit.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Take part in a consultant rota for Trust wide Respiratory cover. The current on-call rota is 1:8 including weekends, with one day on each site. Consultants have Monday as a time off in lieu of the on-call weekend.

  • Carry out teaching duties as required and take an active part in the Postgraduate Medical Education programme and in the teaching of junior medical staff. To be involved in the education of nursing staff, General Practitioners, and other clinical professionals. To attend regularly the monthly departmental and team meetings.

  • Have continuing responsibility for patients and for the proper functioning of the department.

  • Take part in team, department, regional, and national audits.

  • Be involved in research where appropriate.

  • Participate in the management of the Respiratory Medicine Service.

  • Undertake such other duties as may be identified to meet the needs of the service.

Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine

I am pleased to announce that we are partnered with an NHS trust in Greater London, who are looking to recruit a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine. Job overview The trust is seeking an enthusiastic and self motivated Consultant to join our department as a Substantive Consultant in Intensive Care, commencing in April 2026. The successful candidate will be integrated into our established 1:8 ICU on call rota and will provide high quality Direct Clinical Care within the Intensive Care Unit. During non ICU weeks, the post holder will deliver daytime DCC in a complementary speciality, preferably Anaesthetics within the Operating Theatres, supporting service needs and ensuring continuity of care across the department. The trust offers organ support, including respiratory, renal and cardiovascular systems using state of the art Philips, LidCo and PICCO monitoring. Up to ten patients may be haemofiltered. We admit between 700 to 750 patients/year: 70% are medical and 30% surgical. The surgical patients consist mainly of patients admitted after major emergency colorectal or trauma/orthopaedic procedures. High level care is also provided throughout the hospital by our 24 hour nurse-run, consultant-supported Critical Care Outreach Team. Regular audit data is collected on the MediCUS, and we participate in ICNARC. The trust uses CERNER EPR system. The intensive care consultant rota is 1:8. The consultant is supported by a team of junior doctors. There is an 1:8 registrar/speciality doctors rota and an 1:8 SHO/clinical fellows rota. The unit is recognised for training in intensive care medicine by the Intercollegiate Board. About the Role I am pleased to be working with a leading Acute General Hospital that is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Dermatologist. The post-holder will be expected to provide a service to patients of the trust, General Practitioners and to attend multi-disciplinary meetings.
