About the Role

Im working alongside a University Hospital in London, that are looking for a UK based Haematology Consultant.

The Haematology department lies within the Women’s, Children’s and Clinical Services Division. The Consultants perform clinical and laboratory duties across sites. The Haematology Laboratory operates as a single merged service across-site with a unified management structure and a single Laboratory Lead. Haematoncology services (clinical care and chemotherapy delivery of patients requiring up to and including Level 3 services)

Haemoglobinopathy care is centralised at CMH within the newly refurbished specialised centre. The Brent Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre is an integral part of the Haematology department at CMH and provide Haemoglobinopathy testing, counselling, support and education of patients and the local community together with training of professional staff.

Service reconfiguration has resulted in the consolidation of all Haematology inpatients at the NPH whilst outpatient services offered at all sites of the Trust. Service transformation and reconfiguration is ongoing to ensure all patients across the Trust have access to the same specialist services but where appropriate have also access to follow up and day treatments closer to home.

The post-holder will be an integral part of the Haematology service provided to the Trust and the appointee will provide care for inpatient and outpatient haematology patients. There are weekly myeloid, lymphoma, CLL and myeloma clinics within the department in addition to new referrals, general haematology, haemoglobinopathy and thrombosis clinics. The combination of clinics for the individual post-holder will be subject to their experience and interests. Full-time consultants at this trust will generally undertake 3 clinics per week.

There are weekly regional and local MDTs which will be part of job planned activity. Acute inpatient admissions are managed. For malignant haematology, has a stand-alone MDT and a weekly meeting to discuss complex cases and transplant referrals.
