About the Role

I am currently working with a district general hospital based within the Midlands, seeking a Consultant Geriatrician role within a well-organized and collaborative department. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team committed to providing high-quality care for frail, elderly patients across their organization.

The Trust is committed to the provision of a modern high quality, Consultant-led elderly care service, and the successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the 6 Consultants in Elderly Care currently in post.

There are daily consultant ward rounds with the expectation that every patient will have a daily senior medical review. There are efforts to develop enhanced care for frail older people and alternatives to hospital admission, such as virtual Frailty ward.

Job Plan Total:
DCC 8.5 (DCC)
SPA 1.5 (SPA)
On Call 1.4 worked PA’s (DCC) in addition to 10PA Job Plan
The ward has 28 patients, you will usually be responsible for 14 patients. Sometimes, if the other consultant is on leave, you will be responsible for the 28 patients (not all of them need your review, mainly new and sick) with a registrar to support.
