About the Role

I am working with the Acute General Hospital, who is seeking to employ a Consultant Geriatrician

Following additional investment, we are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our Medicine for Older People based at The Trust. The post holder will provide a clinical and leadership role in the assessment, treatment and management of older people in addition to contributing to the overall proactive and preventative agenda. The successful candidate will work within our forward thinking and expert multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care and will be expected to constantly seek to improve and develop the service.

The appointee will be expected to bring innovation and vision, to further develop a service fit for the future needs of our local population whilst ensuring that current service provision continues to be high-value and delivered to the highest standard. Frequent review of the service is anticipated to ensure that Trust and departmental strategic priorities are being met.

As a consultant, the successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education. The development of relevant research interests will be encouraged, and opportunities will be enhanced alongside areas of specialist interest.

Main duties of the job

The current on-call Rota is 1:11weekends for ECPOD (Sat-Sun). This is subject to change as the service expands. A lieu day is given after a weekend on call. There are 2 other medical consultants on site as part of the medical take. On Sunday Night 8pm -8am , ECPOD provides cover and advice to the medical take from home.

The department is keen to accommodate special interests; we are happy to discuss and consider appropriate changes in the weekly job plan. Especially in the areas of:
·       Perioperative medicine(including surgical/ Orthogeriatrics/ ect.)
·       Frailty
·       Community
·       Same day emergency care.

The post-holder will take part in the department’s regular teaching to medical students, junior doctors and other health professionals. He/she will supervise junior staff, as well as other members of the department’s clinical team, and community clinicians.

Job overview The role will include supervision to the Neonatal Unit, postnatal wards and Transitional Care in the Hospital. Specialist Doctor - Stroke / Medicine

We are working with a General Acute NHS Hospital based in the Lancashire who are looking to recruit a Specialist Doctor - Stroke / Medicine for their department. The Hospital provides an active acute thrombolysis service (with thrombectomy and also makes use of the specialist Telestroke On-Call Service out of hours and at weekends. Specialist Level doctors with a minimum of 6-years sub-specialty training in Stroke medicine are encouraged to apply. Applicants are encouraged to clearly exhibit how they meet our criteria in their application. It is essential that you meet the minimum post-qualifying time frame alongside the minimum number of years’ experience is Stroke Medicine as the successful post-holder will be the “Senior Decision Making” doctor on the Stroke On Call rota at times. Consultant Histopathologist

Consultant Histopathologist We are working in partnership with an Acute General Hospital in Devon to appoint a Consultant Histopathologist. The Department is housed in a self-contained unit opposite the outpatient department. It comprises separate histopathology, cytopathology and immunohistology laboratories; secretarial office, 5 consultant offices, 1 senior MLSO office and tea-room. The mortuary is close-by on the ground floor of the main hospital block and has undergone major updating with an increased storage facility, expanding from 50 standard fridges, 16 plus size and 4 freezer spaces to 65 standards, 20 plus size and 9 freezer spaces and a refitted postmortem room with 2 new tables. (New in 2017) All consultants have their own offices with modern microscopes, video capture and VDU display, together with a networked PC. There is a large multiheaded teaching/consultation microscope in the main laboratory. A wide range of immunohistochemically stains are performed using 2 Benchmark Ultra analysers, with a maximum of 180 slides/day (if 3 ‘runs’, however, normally only 2 are required per day). These machines are also capable of performing in situ hybridisation, currently only used routinely for immunoglobulin light chains and EBV. Immunofluorescence is used for skin biopsies on request. I am working with a district general hospital who are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic colleague to join the Consultant Community Paediatrician. The hospital is located in Hertfordshire. The post is based at the Child Development Centre in the City, there may be some peripheral clinics in the county's special schools. A good general Community Child Health background is essential; we are particularly looking to recruit a paediatrician with an interest and experience in autism/neurodevelopment. Other special interests to complement the team, for example, neurodisability, ADHD, safeguarding, are welcomed, and the opportunity exists for on-the-job development of special interests.
